Hancock & Rowe

Built on over 13 years of experience designing digital products for some of the UK’s leading brands, we create user-focused solutions that help people achieve their goals. We work with organisations across the UK and US, particularly in SaaS, fintech, marketplaces, and membership associations, to deliver thoughtful, effective digital experiences. We love solving complex usability challenges, whether it’s untangling messy navigation, streamlining confusing booking flows, improving low conversion rates, simplifying clunky onboarding, or making hard-to-use websites more intuitive. Whatever the challenge, we’re here to make digital work better for everyone.

Our values

People first

We support flexible working and design with empathy, because people, whether teammates or users, are always at the heart of what we do.

Passion for life

We believe great design is fuelled by life outside of work, so we encourage our team to follow their passions and build a balance that works for them.

Push the brief

We see every brief as a launchpad, always challenging ourselves to go further and deliver smarter, more valuable outcomes.

The role

As a Mid-weight UX/UI Designer, you’ll work across a range of client projects and internal initiatives, helping to shape the user experience and visual design of web platforms, apps, and digital products. You’ll be involved at every stage of the design process, from discovery and user research through to final UI and handover to development supported by our UX Director and Project Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Translate user needs and business requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs
  • Conduct and analyse user research and usability testing
  • Collaborate closely with developers, project managers, and stakeholders
  • Maintain and contribute to design systems and style guides
  • Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)
  • Present design work and rationale to clients and internal teams

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years of UX/UI design experience, ideally within an agency or product environment
  • A strong portfolio showcasing user-centred design processes and pixel-perfect UI
  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe CC (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator)
  • Solid understanding of UX principles, responsive design, and accessibility
  • Experience working with design systems and component libraries
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to manage your own workload

Nice to have

  • Interest in branding or motion design
  • An interest in exploring AI tools to enhance creativity
  • Motion design experience
  • Experience with Hotjar or similar tools

Hybrid working (if needed)

This is a flexible role, ideally with three days per week in the office alongside the team, with the option to work remotely for the remaining days if preferred. However, you’re welcome to spend more time in the office if you choose.

We have a small and cosy space in Meopham Green, Kent. Our first official home where we are starting the growth journey of our studio. There is free parking nearby with a short 5 minute walk to the studio.
