As a Senior Designer, you are an integral, client-facing member of the studio. You are
responsible for all day-to-day design activities to help deliver projects to the highest level, engaging in every stage of the process from inception to completion. This is a unique opportunity for a talented, motivated individual to join a company with big ambitions and a wide range of projects to work on. We are seeking someone with proven ability, backed up by a portfolio of work from live projects.
You tackle each project with confidence, focus, and a strong belief in yourself and your team. With your high-level thinking and clear mindset, you know when to pause, reflect, and shake things up if needed. You develop ideas step-by-step, always keeping the team and clients in the loop.

You’re a natural motivator, guiding the design team to explore new creative ideas and sharpen their technical skills, all while sharing your own knowledge and passion. Good communication is key as you collaborate with the core Map design team, Operations, Marketing & Communications, and our sister studio, Universal design, to take every project to the next level.
With your open-minded and curious nature, you dive into every aspect of studio life with enthusiasm. You help shape the studio culture, inspire others, and mentor junior designers, helping them grow their creative and leadership skills.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Autonomy: Take responsibility for your work. Self-checking and editing your work before presenting to Project Leads/CDs is essential.
  • Business Development: Build a positive relationship and dialogue with clients.
  • Collaboration: A more client-facing member of the team, you represent Map – attending and organising client meetings. Actively contribute to internal project teams meetings, kick-offs, wash ups and design reviews as relevant.
  • Culture: Bring individuality, commitment and positivity to the team.
  • Design Excellence: Expected to work on a wide variety of small to medium projects, bringing your own ideas and supporting the development of others.Craft beautiful and compelling solutions that have reason and meaning. Assist and implement creative direction, alongside Lead Designers and CDs. Ensure deliverables are met to the highest standard, where issues arise within projects, make recommendations without compromising the design intent.
  • Learning & Development: Stay up to date on current design trends and influences. Always be open to learning whilst sharing your technical skills, software knowledge and experience with colleagues. Further development of your area of expertise, finding ways to share your knowledge and passion. Provide creative and technical guidance to junior members of the team, passing on knowledge and developing the skills in the team to elevate studio output.
  • Process: Proactive creative exploration to support Project Leads in 2D CAD, 3D CAD, sketching, model making and visualisation.
  • Project Management: Prepare and take ownership of presentations and be confident in presenting work. Be prepared to join meetings, with all material ready and accessible to key team members beforehand. Be on top of project timings, deliverables and deadlines/key milestones.
  • Studio Support: Day to day support on studio tasks and organisation of project folders, tools & workshop and CMF library materials & samples.
  • Team: Participate in junior level recruitment activities, including interviewing and education outreach involvement.

Hybrid working: Employees have the flexibility to work a mix of in the studio and at home, working a minimum of 3 days in the studio and up to 2 days from home. Wednesday and Monday being anchor days, where everyone comes in to the studio. Additionally, the option to request to work remotely for up to 2 weeks per year.
