Use your creativity to bring 1,000 years of faith, history and tradition to life

Gloucester Cathedral is one of the most significant heritage destinations in the Southwest. An historic place of worship with origins that date back over 1,000 years, we remain open for everyone, 365 days a year. A living, breathing building full of activity, in 2019 we welcomed over 400,000 visitors from all over the world. During the past few years, we have completed the first phase of a once-in-a-generation project to develop the Cathedral for the 21st Century and have ambitious goals to grow, engage and diversify our audiences locally, nationally and internationally.

This is where you come in. Forming a key part of our Development & Communications Team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues to promote the work and mission of the Cathedral through compelling and audience-led creative content design. Although your focus will be on design, no day will be the same as you’ll be producing exciting multichannel materials for a range of campaigns across all aspects of cathedral activity. You’ll also play a key role in enabling the Cathedral’s pattern of daily worship by producing weekly orders of service, rotas and other faith-based resources.

We’re looking for an exceptional designer who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team and is confident leading the creative process – from concept to final design. You’ll have plenty of experience developing multichannel content for marketing/communications campaigns and onsite visitor information and have a track record for delivering on time within a fast-paced environment. You’ll also have a great eye for detail and be as happy formatting and proof reading as you are being creative.

The Cathedral is about to launch a new marketing strategy, brand identity and website so this is a wonderful opportunity to join a dynamic organisation and have a significant impact at a pivotal moment. Whilst you will be based in the office, there will be opportunities to agree a flexible working pattern which strikes the right balance for you and the Cathedral.
