The Studio
Mountain is a Glasgow based, multi award-winning creative studio. We have delivered transformative work for the likes of Highland Park, The Macallan, The Glenlivet, The Famous Grouse, Tamdhu, Glengoyne, Edinburgh Gin, Bacardi, Brugal, Cutty Sark and Stoli.

The Role
We are looking for an incredible studio manager to come join our busy and fast paced agency. Assisting the creative dept on projects and managing their workflow, you will play a crucial role within our team, managing the day to day running of the studio and operations. Reporting directly to the managing director, you will be responsible for client communications, project/production management as well as internal and external team management. You will be an incredibly organised person with a positive ‘can do’ attitude. You will thrive in a leadership role and have a deep understanding of design, print and production processes. Once bedded into the role you will add value by identifying profitability and efficiency opportunities within our operations. We are looking for someone who remains calm under pressure, loves planning and has awesome communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Brief, manage and support our team of designers and creatives
  • Ensure projects are efficiently resourced, delivered on time and on budget
  • Prioritise workload, set internal deadlines and ensure a smooth production process
  • Schedule, book and manage external suppliers and freelancers
  • Oversee and lead all creative output from the studio, ensuring an excellent and ever-improving level of quality
  • Quality check all creative output and finished artwork to an incredibly high standard. Making sure all deliverables have addressed client and studio feedback
  • Advise & assist team on production & artwork set up
  • Communicate with clients and other key stakeholders. Liaise to understand business and project needs
  • Assess and clarify client briefs and assign the appropriate team members to a project
  • Clearly communicate the client and project needs to the team to ensure that the work meets the agreed brief
  • Quote, budget and forecast projects efficiently and accurately
  • Anticipate peaks and troughs and resource accordingly
  • Work with project management systems to streamline workflows. Review and report on working practises. Suggest and implement methods to help streamline workflows
  • File and archive management. Ensure everything on our server and drive library is up to date, accurate and follows studio practices

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years experience of managing, motivating and leading a creative team
  • Clear, friendly and professional written/verbal communication skills
  • Highly organised
  • Able to build relationships quickly and deliver a great client experience
  • Have a deep understanding of all of the elements of the design/creative process from end-to-end
  • Expert understanding of print and production processes
  • Able to lead and assist design production and artwork set up independently
  • Can take ownership of projects and collaborate with internal and external teams
  • Excel at managing multiple stakeholders and conflicting priorities
  • Experience of packaging design production process and the drinks sector is desirable
  • Has great attention to detail and execute to a relentlessly high standard
  • Able to self-manage projects, deliver all work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Has a growth mindset and constantly seek to improve and develop workflows
  • Deliver updates on schedules, budgets and progress reports
  • Skilled with Adobe applications including inDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat
  • Connected in the design industry to source freelancers/contractors and new suppliers
  • Have strong leadership skills but able to take direction and feedback
  • Full clean driving licence
