Där lighting is one of the best known designers and distributors of lighting for the home with nearly 50 years experience in the UK. Our design team creates exceptional, original lighting designs that add individuality, excitement and ambience to any scheme, inside and out, big or small. Our designs are sold through B2B and B2C channels through independent showrooms and shops, major retailers and online.

A rare opportunity has arisen for a Middle Weight Product Designer to join our team of designers who work with our technical team to create innovative and inspiring lighting products to reflect the latest inspirations in interior design, materials and trends. Combining decorative features with the latest lighting technologies your lighting designs will need to be commercially appealing as well as functional, practical and sustainable.

This exciting new role will require a willingness to embrace the design process from initial concept through to final sample prototype and liaison with Buyers/Far East factories. Great communication skills, an eye for detail and a passion for homeware design with a willingness to travel both in Europe and the Far East will be required.

You must be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of 2D or 3D CAD visualisation skills and have some knowledge of the manufacturing process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Concept creation and visualisation in response to Product Design Briefs.
  • Supply of given tasks in timely fashion to set deadlines and to the critical path set by the Creative Director/Senior Designer
  • Product Specification creation on our in-house database.
  • Factory liaison to develop and create exciting new ideas by using manufacturing expertise relevant to each factory in order to provide best solution to target cost.
  • Liaison with in-house Technical Department to develop new concepts.
  • Assistance with other Design Studio tasks when required e.g showroom set up for customer presentation or photography shoot.

The ideal applicant will possess

  • BA in Industrial Design/Product Design or other relevant Creative Degree
  • Good knowledge and experience with using adobe illustrator and photoshop
  • Experience with Solidworks or similar alternative would be advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Driving License preferable

Hours: 39 hours per week – 8.30am – 5.30pm Monday – Thursday with a 4pm finish on Friday
