Introduction
Artelier is a leading Art Consultancy based in the creative city of Bristol. Working internationally, the company’s portfolio of projects includes private residential, yachts, developments and luxury hotels.

We are looking for an exceptionally talented individual with FF&E design expertise in luxury residential and/or hotel interior design and accessories. Important to the role is a fresh, dynamic and truly contemporary approach to design, accessories, styling and artworks. This opportunity offers an exciting new ‘hybrid’ role where the creative vision of an FF&E designer would merge with the curatorial mindset of an art consultant.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), a BFA in Interior Design, BSc in Interior Design, Bachelor of Architecture or similar.
  • At least three years’ post-graduate experience working for an international design firm.
  • Strong portfolio of design work and accessories curation for luxury hotel projects.
  • Proven track record of design processes from concept design presentations through to detailed design specification and documentation.
  • Knowledge and experience of accessories suppliers and procurement processes.
  • Creative, fresh and dynamic approach to design, accessories, styling and artwork curation.
  • Experience of curating or designing artwork for luxury projects.
  • Passion for modern and contemporary art, with a genuine desire to expand knowledge in this field.
  • Excellent technical skills and proficiency with PhotoShop, InDesign, AutoCAD, and Sketchup.
  • Drawing and design skills to visualise and illustrate concepts.

Role outline – FF&E Designer / Accessories & Styling Specialist

As an FF&E Designer / Accessories Specialist, you will focus on researching and developing the accessories elements of our projects (mainly hotels) and explore the crossover with artworks and sculpture. With the support of the Artelier wider team, you will:

  • Lead in researching and establishing an innovative and unique library of accessories and suppliers, including specific thematic categories, materials, techniques which can be tailored to our projects.
  • Be responsible for developing sophisticated, well-researched and contextually relevant accessories concept presentations.
  • Read spaces and intelligently curate meaningful collections with narratives that relate to the project theme and draw parallels with the wider artwork curation.
  • Refine and evolve the concept presentations through to schematic design mark-ups on floor plans, elevations and renders.
  • Prepare detailed design documents and schedules with item specification, procurement details and supplier information.
  • Liaise with suppliers to establish stock levels, commissioning details and arrange sampling.
  • Provide support in the procurement, commission management and logistics of supplied accessories.
  • Dress and style projects onsite.

Role outline – Art Consultant

Alongside your FF&E accessories work you will be supporting the company in its art research and art consultancy for projects.

  • You will support the team with its contextual research and development of artistic themes for the projects – a process which will inform the artwork direction, as well as the accessories.
  • Importantly, this can be considered a ‘hybrid’ role where the boundaries between artworks and accessories blur to create an interwoven and holistic outcome.
  • You will support the company in illustrating artwork ideas, specifically using hand-drawing and graphic design software skills to visualise concepts.
  • Carry out ongoing background research into new artists and artwork developments for our artwork library – which is managed by a colleague.

How to Apply
We envisage this as a role the candidate can grow into and is not particularly aimed at senior level experience. Therefore, the salary would be in line with an Interior Designer level role (approx. 3 years industry experience) and will be based on candidate experience, as well as pay grades typical of the Bristol area. The role is also offered on a flexible basis of 3-5 days per week. The role is for immediate start and we will review applications upon receipt.
