  • Fulltime, with flexible work schedule
  • Hybrid location with 2+ days / week in Cambridge
  • C.£46,000 – £55,000 plus benefits
  • 5+ years digital product design experience required

We’re looking for an experienced digital product designer to join the growing team at Fluent.
As Senior Product Designer you’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of exciting digital products – everything from digital healthcare to sustainable transport, understanding the complex business requirements of the client and building the most innovative experiences for the user.

About us
Fluent is a digital product development agency, working on the web in a variety of disciplines to provide creative, clever solutions to tricky business problems. We take pride in getting to the real root of the problem – understanding what our clients want, and delivering what they need.

We’re an elegant bunch (believe it or not), at least when it comes to our work. We don’t believe in shortcuts, and it’s one of the reasons so many of our clients keep coming back to us as their business grows. They know we’ll do everything we can to help them thrive.

We care about creating a workplace for Fluenteers to thrive, too. We don’t have a formal management structure – or office politics – we work together in various combinations depending on the technical demands of each project.

Working at Fluent means you’ll enjoy a high-level of autonomy and have the chance to work with a friendly, incredibly accomplished bunch. That, alongside a competitive pay package and a host of benefits, to reflect the value of the work you do.

We have a no long-hours culture and our philosophy is to work smart, so while we get a kick out of doing our job, we value the hours outside of it too.

What you’ll be working on

  • You’ll lead design on client projects – ensuring that accessibility, usability, design and realisation are all on-point in delivery of a successful result.
  • You’ll work on a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects – quickly getting to a deep understanding of how our clients tick and the problems they’re trying to solve.
  • You’ll be embedded in cross-functional teams, championing design within agile teams made up of both Fluenteers and staff from client organisations.
  • You’ll help raise the bar for design within Fluent. In our small team every member plays a critical role in improving our practice.
  • You’ll help coordinate other members of the creative team – making sure that we each contribute in the most effective and efficient way.

You should apply if

  • You’re a designer with at least 5 years of experience designing great products.
  • You’re excited by the idea of quickly diving deep into new fields of knowledge and new domains.
  • You’re highly proficient in producing wireframes, working prototypes and high-fidelity designs. Ideally you’ll be an expert with Figma – but Sketch and XD converts are also welcome.
  • You’re very familiar with multiple aspects of both UX research and UX/UI design.
  • You’re an advocate for the user – empathetic to their needs and striving to design inclusive, accessible experiences for all.
  • You’re a strong communicator. Your day will involve regular contact with PMs, engineers and other designers – so you’ll need to be effective at communicating well as part of a team.
  • You’ve worked previously with design systems – creating and maintaining them on behalf of product teams for the benefit of all.
  • You have a strong working knowledge of design patterns for the web and ideally for Android and iOS too.
  • You care about the little things – sweating the small stuff that makes for a polished experience but pragmatic in balancing the ideal experience with other technical and business constraints.
  • You’re highly organised – ensuring that long running projects are constantly evolving to ensure that they remain maintainable into the future.
  • You’re a confident writer – both in communicating with other people and in using content as part of your design. The copy on your designs is never an afterthought.
  • You’re familiar with agile methodologies and practices. We’re an agile team (and frequently our clients are too) so you’ll be expected to participate in backlog refinement, standups and retrospectives.

In addition to the above you’ll need to be:

  • Educated to degree level

The Senior Creative [EXPERIENTIAL] is the link between world class creative work and the entire agency team. Working alongside Account Service and Production leads, your laser focus is producing exceptionally polished, considered and detail-oriented creative design for live experiential projects, from ideation and concept through to delivery and execution.

If aspects of both experiential creative direction and experiential design light you up, then this position as Senior Creative of all things Experiential might just be calling your name.

You might be thinking ‘but what will I actually be doing?’ We’re so glad you asked. Simply put, this role is focused on ideating, conceiving, producing and delivering the creative for all of our live experiential live work in the UK. Brand activations, launches, special events, pop-ups, festivals, dinners, shows – you name it – any IRL live experiences that we’re working on for client projects, campaigns and launches – your aesthetic, style, vision and creative talent will play an integral part in developing that experience and bringing it to life.

What you bring to the table visually and creatively shapes the look, feel, image and outcomes for New Moon’s experiential live work in London. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for the execution of multiple pieces of world class, award-winning, globally celebrated work annually. (We make it sound so simple, but we know it’s not!) Here’s what it takes to make that happen.

Your specific responsibilities in landing the work;

  • Participation in new business briefings; interpreting the creative requirements within a brief or RFP and actively contributing to brainstorming and strategising what, how and who could bring it to life.
  • Work in collaboration with the Account Service, Strategy and Production teams to develop pitch decks.
  • Lead the ideation process when responding to new client briefs and pitch proposals for the London Office – inclusive of building out a comprehensive deck, planning a clear and compelling guest journey and creating strong visuals to express the theme and design of the event.
  • Assist in the development of content capture briefs.

Your role in ideating and conceiving the work;

  • Generate ideas and creative treatments that genuinely excite clients and make them expand their perceptions of what New Moon can do to help them achieve their goals, drive tangible results and create cultural legacy-building experiences for their communities and audience.
  • Understand our clients’ business objectives and how those objectives relate to their target audience, while staying in tune to business issues and market considerations, particularly as it relates to the cultural arena that we are experts in, to assist in generating relevant creative ideas that truly move the needle in tangible, material ways.
  • Bring a strategic approach to the ideation process so that the creative is not only aligned with the client’s immediate needs but also supports their overarching goals and vision, which in turn strengthens their relationship with us as a trusted partner
  • Deft at anticipating potential challenges and obstacles that the creative presents and showing foresight in being able to pivot and problem-solve to preempt them

What you are accountable for when doing the work;

  • Lead and follow through on the creative process of each project from concept through to execution, inclusive of *but not limited to); attending site visits, delegating effectively to appropriate 2D & 3D design resources, being nimble and responsive to changing client needs, budget considerations, production realities or logistic challenges, overseeing the creative execution onsite at live events.
  • Work hand in hand with the Head of Production and Client Services Director to proactively identify resourcing bottlenecks and ensure all jobs have the correct creative resources to ensure seamless delivery of creative to the client.
  • Actively develop a network of freelance creatives including art directors, illustrators, 2D designers, 3D renderers, set designers, content editors, photographers, videographers etc.
  • Ensure all freelance creatives that are engaged are tracking hours and have confirmed rates to ensure best practice on managing costs tracking and margins on a project.
  • Taking ownership and full accountability of all creative aspects of a project from start to finish, including the quality and cadence of deliverables, management of resources, budget management and profit margins.

THE INHERENT QUALITIES WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Radical collaboration; support a culture and environment that is conducive to collaboration, making sure all stakeholders are heard and respected, giving others the opportunity to participate and contribute in ways that inspire them.
  • Big leadership energy; knowing the difference between management and leadership, understanding how to lead by example.
  • An innovative spirit with willingness to try new approaches and ideas.
  • You are genuinely curious about, and committed to, learning, growth and expansion as a person – not just as it relates to your career track.
  • You are dialled into culture and have fostered your own interests and knowledge in key areas of the cultural landscape.
  • Demonstrating humanity, empathy, compassion and patience with clients, peers, stakeholders and collaborators.
  • Getting down to the nitty gritty, here’s the background you’ll need to have;

CRUCIAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS (THAT THERE’S NO WIGGLE ROOM ON)

Here Design is looking to recruit an Artworker to join their multi-disciplinary team in East London.

A deliberately non-specialist studio, Here Design work on a diverse range of projects across a wide range of disciplines. The right candidate will positively embrace this approach, have an excellent understanding of print processes and a keen eye for detail.

The Artworker will work within a collaborative environment amongst a friendly team of creatives.

Reporting to the Production Director they will produce print ready artwork across a range of areas including branding, packaging, print and publishing.

This role however is more than just a run of the mill artworker role, we are not looking for someone to robotically churn out artworks. We are looking for someone that is happy to communicate to designers if they think there are better ways to achieve the design intent. Who has an interest in print and manufacturing processes, finishes and materials that can feed into designers as the project moves through the studio prior to hitting the production team. With environmental impacts top of everyone’s agenda the ideal candidate will be hot on the topic and understand the impact materials and processes can make to the success of a design and its end eco credentials. They will help champion Here’s Beautility commitment of ‘Making good choices desirable’.

We want someone that is hands on, maybe with some crafting interest, who can help when needed with in-house mock-up requests.

As the company continues to grow there maybe additional crossover with a digital team and helping create digital files so an interest or experience in this would also be welcome.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the Production Director & midweight Artworker to produce whatever the studio requires, be it print artworks, digital artworks, brand asset sets or mockups.
  • A point of contact for designer support with production consultancy – offering suggestions / comment on all production consideration for materials, finishes, processes and sustainability to best work with a client’s project and the designer’s intent.

  • Managing the in-house artwork version control and filing process.
  • Working with mock-up agencies to assist in the creation of prototypes/mock-ups.
  • Attending press passes, alone or with clients, to give the final artwork sign off.
  • A point of contact for technical questions from clients if required.
  • A point of contact for supplier liaisons if required.
  • Liaising with Project Managers to define briefs.
  • Assisting in management of freelance artworkers.
  • Taking ownership over client work you are appointed Brand Guardian for, and always considering their ways of working.
  • Creating and exporting assets for client use.
  • Obtaining print / production quotes if required.
  • Championing Beautility commitments.

Must have skills / experience:

  • Experience of producing print-ready artwork across a range of areas including branding, packaging, print and publishing.
  • Mac proficient with excellent Illustrator, InDesign & Photoshop skills.
  • Understanding of all major print process.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Able to juggle multiple workloads.
  • Able to speak technically & professionally with printers & clients about our artwork.
  • Strong communication skills, internally and externally.
  • Able to handle a fast paced & ever-changing studio environment.

Bonus skills:

  • Proofreading experience.
  • Knowledgeable on the capabilities & subsequent limitations of print and other production processes.
  • File creation for social media posts.
  • File creation for web / digital applications.
  • Prior use of Adobe XD, Figma, Miro, Cinema 4D, Rhino, Egnyte, Monotype Mosaic.
  • Practical mockup skills (cutting, painting, printing and applying rubdowns).

  • Strong retouching / colour correction skills.

This is not an opportunity to become a designer at Here Design. There are some aspects of creativity with some projects, and the production teams’ opinions are always welcome, but the role is not a creative-focused role, nor will it ever lead to a designer role.

ABOUT US

Oh hi! We’re delighted that you’re interested in working with Wonderbly, the UK Children’s Publisher of the Year 2021. Below you’ll find out all about us, our mission and values, and the roles we have open right now.

Wonderbly is the world’s leading personalised publishing company. We conceive, design, promote, sell, and make wonderful books for wonderful customers all over the world.

Our mission is to make people feel extraordinarily special, and bring them closer to the people they love, through the power of personalised stories. So far we’ve shipped over 7 million books to over 150 countries. We’ve done this in just eight years, and we’re just getting started.

Getting personalised books to all those millions of customers requires a multidisciplinary team. Our wonderful people have experience across editorial design, research, production, software engineering, marketing, e-commerce, data analysis, print-on-demand manufacturing, shipping… the list goes on.

This means that Wonderbly is a collaborative and creative place to work, with lots of opportunities for growth and development across a broad range of skills.

We’re based in London, where we have a gorgeous, light-filled studio for working together. But like many digital-first companies, we have a hybrid operating model, with many colleagues working from home and further afoot much of the time.

Our values

Wonderbly’s values were born from the three qualities at the heart of ‘Lost My Name’ – our original and best-selling personalised children’s book. These values are Courage, Curiosity and Kindness. And although they naturally have a child-friendly ring to them, these are deeply human values that we believe everyone should live by.

Courage means taking calculated risks and trying things that no one else would. It means setting audacious goals, seeing them through, and being willing to be wrong.

Curiosity means investing in learning, never losing sight of the ‘WHY’. Curiosity allows us to ask silly questions, explore our blind spots, and dip into other disciplines for inspiration.

Kindness is at the heart of our culture: it’s no coincidence that deep friendships form here every day. Kindness means making space for one another, inclusivity as standard, and clear, direct communication. It does not mean “good vibes only”: the kindest conversations are often the hardest.

Equal opportunities employer

Our team is committed to providing equal opportunities for employment regardless of race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, disability, family structure, socio-economic status, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other basis (it’s the law, but it’s also just the right thing to do).

If you have a disability, caring duties, or any other additional needs that require consideration, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate them during the application process.

  • You believe design is more than just visuals on a user interface, and that sometimes the best solution is no interface at all. You can show us examples of how your work has made people’s jobs easier or more productive, and how your work has influenced technology and informed the way things work.
  • You think in systems. Whether it’s a broadcast facility, theatre, or music production studio, all the people and equipment involved are dependent on each other, and interact with each other. A tiny action by one person can have a huge influence on the whole system. You need to be able to focus on the tiny details, but always keep the bigger systems in mind.
  • You have experience creating, documenting, and maintaining design systems, and helping them be adopted across an organisation.
  • You have experience documenting your designs, communicating them to stakeholders, and working iteratively with developers to deliver them.
  • You are happy to work within an established design system. There is lots of opportunity to be creative and make your mark, but it is essential to deliver consistency across the portfolio.

It’s not essential, but it would be great if:

  • You already have an understanding of audio and video production workflows and the underlying technical concepts.
  • You know Figma inside out and have experience using it to create and maintain design systems.
  • You have some development experience, or an understanding of basic development principles. We don’t expect you to be a developer, but being able to communicate clearly with developers in their own language is helpful.

We value a flexible work environment and have a distributed worldwide team. This role is based in the UK. You will need to travel to Lawo offices in the UK (Chichester) and Germany (Rastatt and Wiesbaden) to work with hardware products and test systems, and to global customer sites when necessary.

We Offer:

  • Working in a highly motivated international team
  • Flexible working hours and home-based office days
  • Attractive salary with access to additional company benefits
  • Company pension scheme and private medical plan
  • Language courses and other training opportunities via Lawo Academy
  • Employee activities and events

We’re a collaborative team and this role will be a good fit for someone who thrives working both collaboratively and independently from idea generation through to design development, formatting and delivery.

Desirable Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience
  • Experience with generative and procedural systems big plus
  • Experience with UnrealEngine or Unity

Our new Art Director has it all…

Those striking visual concepts behind campaigns that win hearts and minds. The integrated marketing expertise to adapt their art to Reddit or TikTok, as comfortably as storyboarding film or masterminding outlandish out-of-home experiences. A passion for their craft that means being as fastidious when kerning copy as they are directing on big shoots.

If this sounds like you, we’re prepared to give you the creative freedom and partners to deliver work you are truly proud of. You’ll collaborate with a team of writers, designers, filmmakers, editors and developers, who love the work and crave award wins as much as you do. Because that’s what it takes to be a creative at Blackbridge.

We’re classically inspired and digitally relevant

Your inspirations should be diverse – from classical art to the latest technologies – and you know how to tune a great idea to work in digital and analogue spaces. Your hunger for new and exciting should be relentless when looking for styles, trends, artists and collaborators to work with. You will ignite that fire in your colleagues as you brainstorm concepts, because you know there are a million exciting ideas to have, and with thought and craft some of them could be amazing.

Of course, there are times when our clients, as ambitious as they are, will crush your soul along with your big idea. Sometimes the budgets or timings will be a challenge. It happens everywhere. But dust yourself down, because tomorrow the right brief will come along, and when it does, we know how to back it with all our creative might. As we continue to outdo ourselves, over and over again.

Why Blackbridge?

With countless industry awards to our name, we really are pushing the boundaries of employer branding – a constantly growing and currently booming area of marketing. What we do is every bit as creative and innovative as consumer advertising, but with an added sense of self-worth. Because we aren’t selling sodas; we’re helping people find and build their futures with world-renowned brands like Amazon, Rolls Royce and the NHS.

Even better, this is what it feels like to be a holistic creative. Building brands from scratch and managing campaigns from end to end. You can’t be content working on one, and only one, client. But you’ll love working here. Nice people usually do. We’re close-knit and know how to enjoy ourselves in and around the creative hub that is Spitalfields, London. And whilst all the perks here are pretty sweet, the most important thing to know is that we’re an employee-owned agency – so you’ll earn a share of our profits after 12-month’s service.

Want to be Creative Artworker at a proper advertising agency?

Then do it where your craft is really respected. Sharpening. Moving in tighter. Ramping up the colour. When it comes to edging creative painstakingly closer to its award-winning potential, we know the devil is in the detail, and so the right Artworker is a gift from above.

So, if you want to join a fun and hard-working creative team that recognises the value in what you do, Blackbridge is your agency. You’ll collaborate on fully integrated marketing campaigns, helping us develop increasingly imaginative ways to ensure each piece of design is technically on point and emotionally stirring.

Do the work you’ve always wanted to

Be revered for your amazingly pedantic retouching and technical artworking expertise across all our big campaigns. Every day is an opportunity to produce work that takes pride of place in your portfolio. And show off your creative flair from building irresistible pitch presentations for potential new clients, to designing the stunning social content upholding our industry reputation.

Learning from our Head of Production, you’ll also get to know the ins and outs of production design for multi-media campaigns across print, digital, animation and video.

We’re looking for emotion designers…

What we mean to say is, a motion designer who creates films that stir something deep inside of our audiences. Because we can’t see what you see. A quirky love affair between the apple and the paper clip on your desk unfolding as stop-motion animation. A high-octane montage of creative transitions that makes a tech company look genuinely disruptive for once. Edits that’s so refreshingly beautiful, it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

Maybe we can dream it, but we can’t quite make it real like you do. So, if you can actually conjure stories we imagine together… If you’re an experienced motion graphics designer and editor who knows how to bring footage to life, we’ll give you the time and resources you need to do work you’re truly proud of.

With all due credit to the edit…

We understand you want to do more than stitch together stock footage. That’s why you’ll begin projects by thinking conceptually, collaborating with other creative and presenting very different styles of film to clients. Whilst explaining to them what needs to be done to obtain the raw footage you need. Do this and we promise to invest in you and your department, because more than ever, we have a huge demand for what you do. And we want to do it well.

You won’t be given a day to create a week’s worth of animation. Or dumped with a load of user generated content, when what you really need is a two-camera shoot. If you say you want to base a concept on a bizarre new trend or exciting plug-in you’ve come across, we’re all ears. You’ll be working for high-profile clients across a diverse range of industries, alongside talented producers, designers and directors. So everything is possible.
