About Us

We are GDL, an all-service graphic and web design agency based in London. Our small, friendly team consists of talented designers, animators, illustrators, and web designers. We take pride in collaborating with some of the biggest names in the London theatre scene, creating captivating concept artwork, bespoke illustrations, social animations, websites, HTML5 animations, and much more.

At GDL, we don’t just create beautiful designs — we imagine an animated future for every project we take on. Most of our clients come through recommendations, and we’ve built a reputation as a trusted, client-focused agency. You can discover more about us at graphicdesign.london

The Role

We are seeking a detail-orientated Junior Designer to join our dynamic creative team. You’ll bring real-world expertise in Photoshop and a razor-sharp eye for detail, starting on a diverse range of projects across animation, print and digital from day one. Reporting to a senior team member, you’ll be involved in:

  • Rolling out multiple high-quality formats for theatre campaign artwork
  • Creating HTML5 animations
  • Animating static artwork for client social media platforms
  • Proofreading designs to ensure error-free, polished outputs
  • Collaborating with team members and clients to ensure design objectives are met
  • Maintaining project timelines and deliverables within deadlines
  • Staying updated with design trends and bringing new ideas to the team

You’ll work directly with a variety of wonderful clients, supported by our close-knit and encouraging team. Collaboration is key to our success, and while our team enjoys hybrid working, we have daily morning one-to-one meetings and stay connected throughout the day with regular calls and chats.

As a Junior Designer, you’ll need to be passionate about animation and design, eager to bring your ideas to the table, and open to feedback to help refine your craft.

Skills and Requirements

Essential:

  • Real-life proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and InDesign to hit the ground running
  • Flawless written and spoken English
  • A razor-sharp eye for design detail
  • A second-to-none ability to proofread your own work and that of others
  • Proactive in seeking clarification or assistance when required

Highly Desirable:

  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Animate, After Effects and Illustrator
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS
  • A solid understanding of what makes exceptional graphic design and animation
  • Ability to draw creative inspiration from unconventional sources
  • A friendly, positive attitude with a can-do mindset
  • Superb organisational skills and enthusiasm for multitasking
  • Confidence in prioritising tasks independently and remaining calm under pressure
  • Capability to manage multiple demands on your time effectively

Hours and Place of Work

  • Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Location: Initially, you’ll work full-time from our office in Brockley (London SE4), just a 3-minute walk from Brockley Station. Once you’ve completed your probation and training, there is potential for a hybrid home/office working arrangement. We’ll provide all the tools and training you need to excel in your role.

Benefits

  • £24,000 annual salary
  • 20 days of annual leave, plus UK Bank Holidays (after passing a 3-month probation period)
  • Regular theatre trips
  • Opportunities for career growth within a supportive and creative working environment
  • The opportunity to work with renowned clients and develop a broad skillset
