We are looking for a talented Graphic Designer to join our award-winning communications team. As well as producing the majority of the council’s communications materials, the design team enforce the council’s agreed design standards across multiple communications platforms, including guidance on the use of the corporate identity. Working across multiple platforms you will work with the Design Team Leader to create both print and online designs with exceptional visual impact generally in keeping with our brand guidelines. Working largely to agreed briefs, you will be required to actively propose routes, suggest creative ideas and bring work to fruition from concept to implementation. You must have good organisational skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to think on your feet.
The ideal candidate will have creative design flare, great attention to detail, and be highly skilled in using InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. The role is primarily a graphic design one, working within the house style – but often out! – preparing, for example, magazines, brochures, flyers, posters, infographics, and also large signage banners. The work is varied and interesting and requires a designer who can multi-task and handle tight deadlines. There is also a small amount of web work, so knowledge of web graphic principles is a bonus.
