Quadrille has established a worldwide reputation for creativity and excellence as illustrated publishers. A division of Hardie Grant Publishing, we have decades of experience in creating major UK bestsellers, as well as internationally successful and acclaimed titles.

We are seeking a Design Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the Design department, working across both illustrated and non-illustrated books.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a highly creative and hands-on role that requires excellent organisational and communication skills, and experience of leading design projects from conception through to final execution.

You will be responsible for maintaining Quadrille’s high standards of quality and innovation, as well as managing a design team, assembling creative teams and art-directing and project managing where necessary. Central to the role is creative vision, author liaison and close work with the Editorial and Production departments.

Extensive experience of working on both covers and insides of illustrated books is essential. Ideally you will have worked with high-profile clients, and have a comprehensive contacts list when it comes to assembling creative teams.

You will be adept at managing budgets, adhering to schedules and coordinating design materials. You will possess vision, flair and attention to detail, as well as a thorough knowledge of production processes, design and style trends, as well as keeping an eye on the bestseller lists and the competitive publishing landscape. Furthermore you will be mindful of best practices around sustainability, inclusion and diversity.
