ROLE RESPONSIBILITY

Selfridges is proud that the vast majority of its creative output – across strategy, concept, installation, design, content and production– is originated, developed and delivered in-house. This means that the vast majority of projects within the business involve one of more of Creative teams (Creative Direction, Windows, Visual Merchandising, Graphic and Digital Design, Editorial and Content Creation), resulting in a significant, fast-paced, wide-ranging and multi-faceted workload. We are looking for a Traffic Manager to join our Creative Team to help with facilitating greater efficiency across the Creative Department, and paint a clear picture of the projects flowing through the function to engender improved planning, prioritisation and resourcing.

 

Role Scope & Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to design and facilitate traffic management across the Creative Department, using existing tools in the short term and proposing future business tools as relevant for increased effectiveness and efficiency
  • Providing a clear picture for the Creative Leadership Team of project workflow, workload and interdependencies impacting the various Creative teams thus providing clarity on the Department’s workload at any one time
  • Advising on capacity abilities and identify potential bottlenecks that will require priority decision making at a senior level
  • Ensuring projects are realistically trafficked across the Department and that briefs are served to the right team at the right time, working closely with the relevant traffic managers (or equivalent role) in each team
  • Providing a single point of contact for stakeholders in key partner functions (Communications, Customer Marketing, Property etc.) and building collaborative relationships
  • Ensuring that project briefs contain the right information and seeking that information when lacking
  • Determining resource requirements and providing consultation on the planning of projects in partnership with the Creative Brand Planning Managers
  • Building a deep understanding of the Selfridges brand and strategy, to engender the abilty to sense check and question the viability of briefs on submission
  • Maintaining highly organised and accurate documentation, and updating and communicating to key stakeholders as necessary/ requested

 

People and Communication:

  • Build strong and effective working relationships
  • Operate with meticulous accuracy, probing and analysing projects looking for gaps in information or planning
  • Produce written work and data that is accurate, clear and well presented
  • Use impeccable organisational skills to facilitate focus, accuracy and quality in the relentlessly fast paced turnover of creative delivery
  • Communicate matters of logistics and scheduling to all stakeholders clearly, ensuring all areas of remit/responsibility are understood and agreed
  • Escalate issues/ propose solutions re. workload, resource and prioritisation in a clear and timely manner
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, e.g. absences, time and attendance and holidays, etc

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Proven experience in traffic management in a multi-facted business dealing with a large workload and projects varied in scope, scale and timeline
  • Working in a creative or brand-based environment, but with traffic management focus
  • Experience of working in the fashion, retail, media or art world preferred

 

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced level of competence in Microsoft Office
  • Experience of using Trello, Slack or similar
  • Understands when to use different programs
  • Confident using PCs & Mac
  • Can resolve technical difficulties when they arise

  • Intuitive, levelheaded and calm. Can clearly demonstrate they have understood what is being asked of them and learn and develop processes from any relevant feedback.
  • Although traffic management experience is the key requirement, the jobholder should have an affinity with the creative/ art world, as well as understanding of the fashion/ retail and digital worlds to be able to understand the likely demands of incoming projects
