The Design Manager is an integral role within the Communication & Content’s Brand team – managing talented designers and leading the day-to-day design work associated with ONE’s visual identity across countries and platforms. Driven by creative thinking and problem solving, they are proactive in finding and designing solutions that help to solve design and brand related requests from across the organization inclusive of campaign needs, internal requests and other brand related partnerships.

They manage a team of 4 (a Junior Designer in London, 2 Senior Designers in Washington DC and Johannesburg, a Creative Consultant in London), evaluating individual design deliverables and overall team performance. They deliver critical constructive feedback where needed and motivate team members throughout the duration of a project. They also work on major campaigns as lead designer.

This is a fixed term position for a 12-month maternity cover reporting to the Senior Creative Manager and will be based in London. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.


  • Manage ONE’s design team within brand, which is composed of a super talented group of graphic and visual designers
  • Have strong design skills and feel comfortable working and mentoring junior talent, following their professional development
  • Act as a brand representative (internal and external) to monitor project progress from creative development through completion, while anticipating potential problems and overall team needs
  • Come to the table with similar working and management You should be skilled in assessing and finding efficiencies, and enthusiastic about helping us meet the demands of our global teams
  • Work directly and proactively with ONE colleague internationally, attending meetings to understand briefs and responding to requests in a timely manner
  • Ensure efficient and even workflow across the brand team. Support and assist the Senior Creative Manager with strategic approaches to work and team
  • Maintain the progress of brand deliverables, resources and capacity
  • Collaborate across teams proactively
  • Value and champion accessibility and safeguarding
  • Be an excellent designer, communicator and creative thinker. You should be able to lead and contribute often to the brainstorming and conception of creative solutions, as well as crafting creative briefs  with the Senior Creative Manager
  • Help maintain a consistent drum beat within the organization on how we deliver on our brand promise
  • Help identify resources and establish great working relationships with vendors and freelancers across the globe


  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience, preferably in a creative or media agency environment
  • A bachelor’s degree in design is preferred
  • Proven experience in design and tracking project progress
  • An understanding of user-centered design principles is highly desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly proficient in all Adobe and Creative Suite tools
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Mac products
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Resourceful and able to adapt quickly
  • Remain positive in high pressure and stressful situations
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think critically and independently, applying good judgement in decision making
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times
  • Ability to work in the UK


Fluency in English required. Proficiency in French or German a great addition.
